1 Mile Historic Hike/Tour on the Catonsville Short Line

What a great way to spend the Columbus/Indigenous People Holiday! Join Sheldon Smith, President of Catonsville Rails To Trails (CRTT) and the Project Manager for the newest boardwalk section of the Catonsville Short Line Trail behind Catonsville Elementary School (CES). The hike/tour will begin at the Santa House next to the Catonsville Firehouse (756 Frederick Road, 21228) on October 10 at 10 a.m. Hikers will proceed 1/2 mile along the Mellor Ave. Trail to Bloomsbury Ave. and will return along the same route. The tour will end at State Fare Restaurant.

Learn about the rich history of this former railroad line and how it impacted the development of Catonsville from 1884 to 1972. Discover the hard work of CRTT volunteers who have turned this abandoned rail lines into a hike/bike trail. Find out about future plans to install historical wayside exhibits and works of art along the trail. This is a casual hike/tour with lots of stops to discuss the trail's history and future plans.

The first 26 people to sign up will receive a $10 gift certificate to State Fare to enjoy lunch after the hike/tour.
