29/10-30/10 Cycle + Surf in S. Wales

Description

Join Saoirse, one of the founders of Bikepacking Buds, for a weekend of cycling and surfing! The plan is to do 70km on Saturday, either wildcamp or camp at a campsite, then spend the day surfing on Sunday before a quick 20km back to the train station. There is one mega hill on Saturday's route that encompasses most of the elevation for the day but the views from the top and route down is spectacular. Saoirse has already said she will be walking it :) If the weather is shocking and views unlikely, we may take this out and spend more time in the pub!

Tides for surfing in Porthcawl are suitable from about 11am, Day 2, so a leisurely breakfast... boards, wetsuits an be rented and surf lessons are available in Porthcawl.

Hoping to wild camp at a spot I know, but there are other campsites nearby if people aren't comfortable with it. Details will be shared and agreed upon in the WhatsApp group. Food will be a mixture - there are loads of options to stop at pubs/shops for lunch/dinner and we can also cook food on stoves.

Don’t forget to bring a very warm sleeping bag, a swimsuit/towel, and waterproof clothes! Weather in S. Wales can be a bit unpredictable!
