American Indian Pottery Workshop @ 10am

Description

We will learn about American Indian pottery with Rowan Harrison from the Pueblo of Isletas community. He will provide a brief history of the art form and its uses in traditional and modern times. He will also demonstrate hand-coiled pottery, which includes all the stages of development from the beginning to the final painted piece. Visitors will be able to create their own small “pinch pot” using the traditional techniques they have learned.

Reservations are required for the 25 available spots. The workshop will take place outside on the front porch. In the event of high winds or rain we may move the workshop inside the building. Masks must be worn inside the building and social distancing protocols will be followed.

Please arrive early. There is a short walk from the main parking lot to the culture center. Follow the trail to the right side of the bathrooms. Materials will be provided, and everyone is welcome to participate.
