Through demonstrations and one-on-one tutoring, students will investigate today's natural, urban and hybridized landscape within approaches of contemporary painting from observation. Students will explore techniques for painting methodically on location and outside of the studio. Individual portfolio progress will be emphasized.
*Courses will take place on location and the class will be continuing to practice social-distancing. Students will be asked to stand at least 6 feet apart from each other and are asked to wear masks.

Lauren Jade Szabo is a Los Angeles born artist who lives and works in Oakland, CA. She graduated with a BFA in Illustration from California College of the Arts with distinction, and received an MFA Fellowship from San Francisco Art Institute for graduate study in Painting, completed in 2018. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is in private collections in Europe and the United States. Szabo currently exhibits with SFMOMA Artists Gallery and teaches Painting in the public education department at the San Francisco Art Institute.
