BMHW22 Building Liberation: Community, Conversation, and Celebration

Description

Join us for an evening to acknowledge the work of those in our community committed to the advancement of black maternal health. We are bringing the virtual conversations to the stage as we extend a call to action to continue the work of black maternal health in Nashville beyond this week-long initiative.

Birth Manifesta is a black woman-owned small business committed to providing full-spectrum doula support to birthing families. Focused on reducing the black maternal and infant mortality rates in the Nashville community, our holistic model is rooted in generational healing with a focus on mental and emotional wellness before, during, and after pregnancy. Through healing centered (i.e. trauma-informed) education and culturally competent advocacy, Birth Manifesta prioritizes centering the voices and choices of birthing families and protecting the maternal memory of mamas.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of Black Maternal Health Week. In order to uplift Black women and their families, we at Birth Manifesta are joining forces with @BlackMamasMatter (BMMA) to center Black women’s scholarship, maternity care work, and advocacy across the full-spectrum of sexual, maternal, and reproductive health care, services, programs, and initiatives.
