Body Language: The Second Annual Yoga Kickback

Description

When stress is at an all time high, our minds can get carried away with thoughts and worries that perpetuate the cycle of overwhelm. Join the calm/cool collective for a day of relaxation while exploring various practices that ground us back into our bodies and the present moment.

Through the mindful engagement of the five senses, we're creating space for BIPOC* to kick back, unwind, and find relief from stress and anxiety.

The Line Up:

10:00- 10:30 am | Welcome Ceremony + Vendor Shop

Make yourself at home with an activity to ignite the senses and/or peruse our vendor area featuring local BIPOC-owned wellness brands.

10:30- 11:30 am | Touch + Sound (Gentle Yoga + Sound Bath Meditation)

Spark your sense of touch through an easeful yoga experience guided by Shakeelah Sutton, founder of the calm/cool collective. We'll explore the duality of gentle movement and stillness in stretching and relaxing the muscles, and conclude with a meditative sound bath provided by sound healer, Jess Gray. All experience levels are welcomed.

11:45- 12:15 pm | Smell (Essential Oil Self-Massage Workshop)

Learn how to alleviate tension and mental fatigue with a soothing self-massage workshop led by Ebony Payne, massage therapist and founder of District Herbs. The session features District Herbs' award winning Hemp Pain Salve with an anti-inflammatory herbal blend of Kava, Cramp Bark, Hops, and Peppermint essential oil combined with organic CBD hemp extract.

12:30- 1:15 pm | Taste (Food Sensory Experience)

Slow down, give thanks, and explore food like you never have before with a food sensory experience hosted by Chef Saskia of Bèl Botanica. Her curated, fully plant-based menu features seasonal dishes, raw vegan delicacies, and new age gastronomy techniques, bringing delicious food, nourishment, and comfort full circle.

1:30- 2:15 pm | Sight (DIY Floral Smudge Bundle Workshop)

Create your very own smudge bundle using white sage and eye-pleasing florals with Jess Gray, founder of Ascent Mind + Body Co. Lighting smudge bundles is an Indigenous practice that aids in clearing negative energy, setting intentions, and creating sacred spaces.

2:15- 2:30 | Closing Ceremony + Vendor Shop

Please note: this event is specifically for those who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color). If you do not identify as BIPOC, we kindly ask that you save space for those who are.
