Building Bridges Through Inclusive Storytelling

Description

Join Kristen Berkeley, Founder of Amplify Outdoors, for a special webinar on inclusive and diverse marketing practices. Using the power of language and imagery, attending this workshop will empower you to create inclusive marketing campaigns that increase outreach to the BIPOC community.

Amplify Outdoors is a Canadian based non-profit organization that was established to elevate and encourage diversity in outdoor spaces. Recognizing a lack of representation of Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) in marketing campaigns geared towards outdoor lifestyle, Amplify Outdoors hopes to change existing narratives that perpetuate societal stereotypes about 'who' should enjoy nature and 'who' is considered outdoorsy. Ultimately, the goal is for outdoor spaces to be inclusive and safe for everyone to enjoy, because 'Nature is for Everyone'.

Kristen Berkeley (she/her) is a former journalist from Toronto, Ontario, who currently lives in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Throughout her journey in the North, Kristen has conducted impactful work with women organizations and Indigenous Governments.

In 2020, Kristen launched her organization Amplify Outdoors to dispel traditional stereotypes about BIPOC community members in outdoor spaces and promote a more inclusive and diverse space in the outdoors. Kristen has a background in critical race theory, GBA+ analysis, and trauma-informed practices.
