Meet Cynthia O. Booth

Cynthia Booth is a native of Cincinnati. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Denison University and a Master’s Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Executive Education Program on Corporate Strategy.

Ms. Booth, formerly a Banker with Firstar Bank (currently US Bank), was one of the highest-ranking females at the executive level during her tenure. In August 2000, Ms. Booth becamePresident/CEO and Owner of COBCO Enterprises/McDonalds, a privately held company that has owned eight McDonald’s franchise restaurants. She was only the only African American female McDonald’s owner in Cincinnati.

Ms. Booth is the recipient of many community and civic awards, some of which include the YWCA Career Women of Achievement Award, the University ofCincinnati School of Business Distinguished Service Award, Enquirer Woman of the YearAward, the University of Cincinnati Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, the Ronald Award (the highest award a McDonald’s franchisee can receive), Goering Center's Family & PrivateBusiness Award, Indiana Wesleyan University's DeVoe School of Business DistinguishedAlumni Award. In 2018, Ms. Booth was inducted into the African American Chamber ofCommerce Black Business Hall of Fame. She is also the recipient of the John F. BarrettEntrepreneur Vision Award.

Ms. Booth can be best described as an admired and strong business woman and also an advocate of giving back to the community. She served as the Vice-Chair of the 2019 and 2020 United Way of Greater Cincinnati Campaign, the first African American female to serve as a Vice Chair.

Ms. Booth also received a distinguished honor by President George W. Bush at the White House as an outstanding business person. She has been featured in Fortune Magazine and has appeared on “CNN” Money Talks. One of her proudest accomplishments was being named a 2020 Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young. Ms. Booth serves on the boards of Denison University, First Financial Bank, Bethesda Inc., Tri-Health, and Cincinnati State Technical & Community College.

Meet Ella Frye

In January 2018, Ella Frye opened the Ohio Economic and Community Development Office (ECDI) in Cincinnati in OTR in Cincinnati Union Hall. ECDI is a 501 c3 non-profit economic development organization founded in 2004. As the third-largest U.S. SBA intermediary micro-lender and a U.S. Treasury designated Community Development Financial Institute (CDFI),ECDI’s mission is to invest in to create measurable and enduring social and change for helping communities by helping entrepreneurs and small achieve access to capital, as well as business education and training. We have offices in Columbus, Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, and now Cincinnati, Ohio. Ella Frye’s Women’s Business Center, Director.Ms. Frye has 30 years of professional experience in economic development, small business development, lending and business consulting.

Meet Jessica Shely

Jessica Shely is the Founder and CEO of the award-winning GPD Creative Agency, a full-service digital marketing agency that assists organizations to create meaningful and memorable digital spaces through brand strategy and user experience design.

In 2015, Jessica founded GPD on the pillars of sustainability and social justice after a life-enriching journey where she traveled around the world to 11 countries in 11 months.

Jessica has 20 years’ experience as a designer and digital marketing professional, is a published author, and holds a Master of Science Degree from Pratt Institute. Jessica is also a proud HBCU alum of Hampton University.

She is the published author of three works, two of which are children’s books, inspired by her daughter to edify Black representation in media.

Meet Candace Bates

Born and raised in Joliet, IL, State Farm Insurance agent Candace Bates, focuses on helping new and existing residents get the insurance coverage they need. Candace’s team consists of dedicated members, Stephanie, Becky, and Kaylee. Their connection with town and community gives them a unique understanding of their policyholders’ needs, enabling them to help their customers reach their goals.

Family is the most important thing to Candace and her team and that's why we consider our customers family.

We are prepared to help our neighbors throughout Cincinnati’s Tri-State to find robust coverage for a variety of essentials, such as: Auto, RV and Camper, Boat, Home, Health, and Life insurance.

As a Chicagoland native, Candace prioritizes small town values like community, customer service, and lending a helping hand. Her and her team focus on building relationships with their policyholders to ensure they get top-quality insurance. You can expect to see Candace and the team around the community donating and participating in community building projects - from fairs and festivals to cleaning up trash along roadways.

Candace’s love for her hometown extends to her personal life. She is an active member in the Black MBA Association, Cincinnati Family YMCA, and OTR’s Findlay Market Incubator. She also donates to several local nonprofits including the Dress for Success and The Young Womens Christian Council.

In her spare time, Candace, with the help of her supportive family help to improve their community through good deeds and projects. They love Cincinnati, and they work to make sure it’s a great place to live for others, too.
