Description

Happy Fall, ladies - we are excited to announce the return of our women's charity poker club, The Calamity Janes!

If you didn't join us at our two kick-off events back in 2019 then you're probably receiving this note because you've heard bits and pieces about our club from your respective connections, however below are all the formalized details for you to get excited about!

For context, Queen's Club was started by Virginia Parker & Natalie Perkins Holden as a way to get some great women together to have some fun and raise some money for our local non-profit community here in Raleigh. Queen's Club is now a licensed non-profit, hosting quarterly poker nights in both Raleigh and Durham and raising thousands of dollars for charities statewide. When Virginia and Natalie realized how popular this event was and after starting the Durham based club, they approached us in early 2019 about starting a "Lil' Queen's Club" for millennial age women... and we were In!

So here we are, back again - Hannah Parker, Lily Holden, Maggie Kane, Sarah Cunningham, and Susan Batchelor.. the Calamity Janes ;)

Our first poker night since 2019 will be Thursday, October 13th at Barringer Construction from 6p - 8:30p!

We will have food and desserts for you to enjoy from 6-6:30p. Drink's will also be available for purchase from our good friends at Junction West!

Our pitboss and dealers will kick the games off sharply at 6:30p and we will play until around 8:15p, the winner will be announced thereafter. The ante is $50/per person to play which will go to the winning lady's charity of choice!

For those that have played poker before, we will be playing Texas Hold'em, and if you've never played... DON'T WORRY! We always go over all the rules & regulations before the games begin - and honestly, the newbies usually play better anyway so don't let being a rookie stop you from joining us :)

What you need to bring:

  • Your proof of ticket purchase and paid ante
  • An awesome poker name
  • The name of the charity you are playing for (very important!)
  • Extra cash just in case you want to purchase drinks or additional chips once you run out

For parking at Junction West, please utilize deck or street parking. We also ask everyone please drive responsibly if you intend to drink, we will have a Lyft code for anyone who needs it!

Please feel free to email Lily at lilyvholden@gmail.com with any and all questions - we can't wait to see you all there!

xo,

Hannah, Lily, Maggie, Sarah, and Susan

P.S. - This quarter's location can only accommodate 30 players and tickets are first come / first serve, so get yours ASAP!
