The Georgetown Lombardi Arts and Humanities Program (AHP) presents:

Color Cafe with Fiber Artist Lauren Brennan from Project Knitwell and Movement Artist Carrie Monger

This open dialogue session will gather a group hoping to understand more about color harmony and design. Lauren Brennan will share her passion for creating with colorful fibers as an avid knitter and fiber artist. We will incorporate movement breaks with movement artist Carrie Monger to bring us together as a group.

Our main objective will be to learn more about color theory and principles of color with a series of discussion questions posed to the group. You will be invited to participate and we will learn together. You can also bring show and tell to showcase some of your color work, either in fiber or any medium.

The Color Cafe is a group directed, informal discussion with opportunities to share links to research and articles that can expand our collective knowledge through the digital class padlet sharing page. You can also take the opportunity to turn on your cameras and microphones to share in person as well.

Think about the ways color and texture bring you joy and join us to learn more about our colorful world! Each Thursday morning at 11:00am EST, we will learn together about the foundation of color theory and psychology. The workshops are interactive with opportunities for participants to critique and share. Each week everyone will have the opportunity to share their favorite combination of colors and textures. We will critique and discuss combinations of color. We will compare and contrast artists (especially knitwear and textile designers like Kaffe Fassett and Stephen West).

Who is this class for?

Especially for artists, knitters, and designers at any level looking for inspiration! This workshop is for anyone who is especially interested in color. Anyone can participate with textiles, paper or even paint samples.
