Students will learn to use a steel nib, dipped in ink, to write in this beautiful style. We will learn how to hold the pen, proper posture, how to warm up, and the basic strokes for the letterforms. We will explore each letter, starting with the lowercase letters, then capitals. Finally, we will learn common ligatures and put words and entire sentences together.

The class is designed for adults, but kids 13 and older are welcome to join with parent supervision. Please email Amy at amy@amoink.net with questions about your child taking this class.

Ages: 13 and up

The class is geared towards students with minimal calligraphy experience and will be fun, fast paced and interactive.

Supplies: All supplies and materials for this class will be provided. Students may choose to bring along their favorite writing utensil and notebook to take notes with.

Amy Owens is a certified instructor of the American Cursive Handwriting System created by Master Penman Michael Sull. She has years of experience doing calligraphy and has recently expanded into teaching cursive and calligraphy to both adults and children. She has a background in architecture and graphic design and currently homeschools her four children.
