Creating 805: One Year Anniversary at SLOMA

Description

Join Creating 805 at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art for a conversation around creativity and entrepreneurship featuring Founders from Root Elixirs, Honeycomb Home Design, Wilde House Paper, and Idlewild Floral.

Creating 805 launched in October 2021 as a monthly speaker series highlighting tales, insights, and lessons from Central Coast entrepreneurs' small business journeys. Since then, Creating 805 has evolved with the launch of its membership, and expanded its monthly speaker series to Santa Barbara County. The Creating 805 community exists to connect and inspire entrepreneurs, business owners, and creatives across the Central Coast. By uniting homegrown innovators and giving them an opportunity to share their stories, resources, and knowledge with one another, Creating 805 is continuing to expand and strengthen the entrepreneurial lifeline of California's Central Coast.

Speaker Lineup

Dominique Gonzales, Root Elixirs

Root Elixirs is a small-batch, woman-owned sparkling soda mixer company based in San Luis Obispo. Focusing on sustainability and freshly-sourced ingredients, each bottle of Root Elixirs is intentionally crafted so that you can have 2-3 elevated cocktails or mocktails in the comfort of your home. Root Elixirs takes the hassle out of creating craft cocktails. Instead, cocktails can be made in 3 easy steps: Ice + Spirit + Root Elixirs = an elevated cocktail.

Ariana Afshar Lovato, Honeycomb Home Design

Megan Heddinger, Wilde House Paper

Wilde House Paper is a sustainable lifestyle paper goods collection created in San Luis Obispo. The brand began as an intentional space where inspired ideas have the space and potential to grow into something bigger. With sustainability at the forefront of all of their processes, Wilde House Paper set out to create something that gives back to this world that we all call home. They hope that this space can serve as a place of inspiration in your daily lives as well as a place that we can all be reminded to slow down to enjoy this journey called life.

Carla Wingett, Idlewild Floral

Idlewild Floral began in 2016 as a wedding floral studio with husband and wife team Carla and Michael. With over a decade of history working on weddings in sunny California, Carla often steered her clients in the direction of dried flowers, which wouldn't wilt on warm wedding days and would last long after the event. When events were cancelled in 2020 with COVID, the duo had time to shift to their true passion of designing with 100% dried florals, solving the eternal dilemma with the waste and ephemeral nature of fresh flowers. Idlewild now operates in a beautiful historic warehouse where a small team of designers creates each bouquet to order, shipping anywhere in the US.
