CT Culinary Challenge

Description

Join us for the first-ever CT State Culinary Challenge featuring four teams of CT State Culinary Arts and Hospitality students competing for four awards and a “People’s Choice” designation.

Student teams from Gateway Community College in New Haven with Chef Chris Gentile, Manchester Community College in Manchester with Chefs Ricardo Aragon and Kathy Kern, Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury with Chef Karen Rotella, and Norwalk Community College in Norwalk with Chef Justin Davis, will compete by creating a sweet dish and two savory items — one with a featured ingredient — to be served at individual college team tables. The teams will also work collaboratively to create a centerpiece that will include a charcuterie station, cheese bread, fruits, vegetables, and assorted artisan breads.

A panel of judges will give four awards that include “Best Savory,” “Best Table Display,” “Best Dessert Bite” and “Best Utilization of the Featured Ingredient.” All other event attendees will vote on a “People's Choice” award.
