What is The Resilient Communities Stormwater Initiative (RCSI)?

The Resilient Communities Stormwater Initiative is funded by the William Penn Foundation and seeks to advance community goals in historically underserved neighborhoods using green stormwater infrastructure.

What is green stormwater infrastructure (GSI)?

Rainfall, or stormwater that runs off of our streets and hard surfaces flows into our sewers, carrying pollutants to our rivers and streams. Green stormwater infrastructure (GSI) is an approach to address this problem in ways that mimic the natural environment. GSI uses plants, soil, and stone to filter and reduce the amount of polluted water that enters the sewers and our waterways. GSI projects can be an opportunity to bring more green into neighborhoods to provide benefits to communities that go beyond clean water.

What is the purpose of this roundtable?

The purpose of this roundtable is to begin a conversation with community leaders about the ways that green stormwater infrastructure can support their community. This conversation will include the following key topics:

  • Listening to community leaders about what types of projects benefit their communities.
  • Making connections between resource providers and community leaders.
  • Learning from community leaders about how to conduct future engagement.

We will notify you of the status of your application 2 weeks before the event.
