Eid al-Fitr Celebration

Description

Come and join the team at Global Shout on Sunday, May 1st at 3pm at Armistead Boothe Park in Alexandria, along with many of the Afghan refugees we have been supporting in their new lives in Northern Virginia, for the final iftar dinner of Ramadan 2022, as well as an early Eid al-Fitr celebration!

As the Muslim equivalent of Christmas, Eid is well known as a time of gift giving, jubilation, and quality time spent with family and friends. We will be providing games, sports, Afghan music and food, henna hand painting, and social service resources for all of our attendees. We also kindly request that all guests have some fun and wear traditional Afghan clothing in the spirit of the holidays, to show solidarity with our new neighbors and make them feel welcome in their new homes!

Tickets will be sold online prior to the event for $25 for all non-refugees, and will be free for all Afghan refugees. If unable to attend, tickets may still be purchased and will be gifted to refugee children in the form of a monetary Eid gift!

We will be serving iftar dinner at 8:01pm at sundown in observance of Ramadan, and we kindly ask all guests that are not fasting to please consume a snack prior to arrival to avoid disrespecting our new friends.

See you all soon and Eid Mubarak!
