Emerging Leaders Training Program

Description

The Emerging Leader program will benefit the Houston federal workforce, by strengthening our federal agency partnerships and developing career talent for future leaders.

The proposed curriculum for Emerging Leaders will include:

  1. Leadership Exploration: Discuss leadership concepts, responsibilities of a leader, and what leadership isn’t, etc. Tuesday, June 15 by Dr. Kim Nugent
  2. Understanding Yourself & Others: Expert may use DISC, Myers-Briggs, or something similar that relates workstyles. The goal is to know who you are and how you behave, and how to adapt that to other workstyles or personalities. Tuesday, July 13, 2021 by Tim Jeffcoat
  3. Emotional Intelligence: Study after study show that EQ trumps IQ when it comes to career and interpersonal success Tuesday, Aug 17, 2021 by Tim Jeffcoat
  4. How to do more: A review of organizational methods to increase effectiveness and efficiency (such as the EINSTEIN method, Outlook tools, etc.) As well as methods for organizing goals for timely completion (fundamental project management skills) Tuesday, Sept 14, 2021 by Tim Jeffcoat
  5. Making Time for Change: Every leader will know how to strategically prepare and plan for change, understand how to relate to change, and explore different change models . Tuesday, Oct 12, 2021 by Natalie Saiz
  6. Developing and Leading Teams: No bad employees, only bad managers. The best teams run themselves. You should be superfluous. Basic team-building concepts and tools. Basic staff accountability tools. Tuesday, Nov 16, 2021 by Natalie Saiz
