————————-About the Artist—————————————-

Morgan Lee is a mixed media artist, poet, and violinist from Chicago, IL.

Morgan Lee is a visual artist whose work often surrounds depictions of the black figures in history who are often times either revered or overlooked.

Through the media of collage which utilizes painting, found objects, textiles, paper, and hand embroidery, she revives the souls and identity of the dead with bold colors and patterns with intention to bring attention to who they were and still are while posing questions about their existence.

Morgan has also begun to reflect on her life in her work with the intention of revealing the inner workings of her mind and how it translates visually and sonically through her experimental music compositions. Her intention is to combine the two to create immersive exhibitions that highlight her tumultuous yet, in a way, relatable life experiences.

Her influences include artists Henri Matisse, Gustav Klimt, Hilma af Klimt, Frida Kahlo, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. She is also inspired by living artists including Tschabalala Self, Amoako Boafo, and Devan Shimoyama.

Since her debut as a professional artist in 2017, she has been apart of multiple successful exhibitions. She has been apart of multiple shows at One Art Space in New York, NY. She has also facilitated her own independent viewings, selling her work for thousands. Morgan’s work has also appeared in The Harlem Times.
