Gospel With the Poor Cohorts

Description

You will be registering for a 6-month cohort beginning the week of November 7, 2022. After registering for the cohort, someone from the Vineyard Justice Network team will reach out with the next steps.

You can plan for the first session to start sometime the second week of November—the specific time and day will be determined by your mentor and group.

We know we must get proximate to the contradictions and issues in our local neighborhoods, but how?

We want to develop a Kingdom-life centered approach to the myriad hot-button issues of our time, but do we know how to get proximate? Oftentimes, we, the church, can shy away from these things, out of fear of offending or simply not knowing how to engage.

We remember that God’s rule and reign are defined by loving mercy first, then administering justice, as we walk humbly together as those rescued and forgiven by our Savior.

OUTCOMES:

Learn how to use the Vineyard Justice Network's (VJN) publication, Gospel With the Poor, to develop biblical awareness of the shape of your community and imagine ways to engage that are grounded in the love and mercy of Jesus.

Explore the following questions: 1) How are you getting proximate to your neighbors and key issues impacting your church and city? 2) Who are the people in your church who already neighbor well and can help lead you into mutual relationships? 3) How can you practice radical mercy in a way that invites the Holy Spirit to surprise, confront, and comfort?

Learn to be an ambassador of biblical peace in your community. Your VJN mentor will partner with you and your church community to discover how to respond to key issues such as criminal justice, race, home and food security, and inequity.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Pastors, staff, small group leaders, and ministry leaders who want to take the next step in growing their capacity to lean towards the lost, the least, the marginalized, and the outcast in their local communities.

HOW WILL THIS WORK?

You'll be placed in a learning cohort (3-5 people) with a VJN mentor and participate in six monthly Zoom calls.

When: 6 monthly Zoom calls, November 2022-Aprril 2023.

How: 90 minute cohort sessions with a VJN mentor, based on experience level (beginner, experienced (3-7 years), seasoned (10+ years).
