'Hidden London: The Capital's Secret, Quirky, and Off-Beat Gems' Webinar

Description

While many people are familiar with London's main attractions like Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben, the capital city is full of lesser-famous — yet equally impressive — sights...if you know where to look. From gladiator arenas to one of the largest temples in the world, it's time to explore London's greatest hidden treasures across its 600 square miles and 2,000 years of history.

Join New York Adventure Club as we virtually hop across London to uncover the city's most impressive lesser-known locales, from remnants of the old world to architectural marvels built within our life time.

Led by award winning London Blue Badge Tourist Guide David Drury, our virtual showcase of London’s A-list hidden gems will include:

  • The scoop on where to find the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs, the world’s first attempt at life-size reconstructions of these extinct animals, which are ‘roaming’ in the shadow of the original home of the Great Exhibition
  • Notable and quirky works of art throughout the capital, from a touching memorial of human self-sacrifice in a tiny green oasis to a mosaic paying tribute to film director Alfred Hitchcock
  • A look at jaw-dropping architectural sites around the city, including the world’s largest Hindu temple and Middle Temple Hall, where one can dine in the same room as Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth I once did
  • Historic sites adapted for modern use, including a luxury apartment building inside a former factory once owned by the world's largest jam company
  • A trip back in time to uncover remnants of a Roman Amphitheater rediscovered in the 1980s, which was home to Gladiatorial combat

Afterward, we'll have a Q&A session with David — any and all questions about London's hidden gems are welcomed and encouraged!
