Introduction to Restorative Justice (3/26/22)

Description

*Please note this workshop is Saturday, March 26, @ 9am PST/11am EST*

Through a combination of pre-session learning**, interactive exercises, & group discussions, you'll:

  • Acknowledge the Indigenous roots of this work and the intentional erasure and disconnection from those roots.
  • Examine how White Supremacy Culture harms all people by disconnecting us from ourselves and each other.
  • Differentiate the nuances between punitive and restorative methods of addressing conflict.
  • Explain the basics of the Restorative Process, respond to the needs of everyone impacted by a situation when working to repair harm.
  • Create actionable steps to fight for equity, dismantle systems of oppression, and change individual behaviors that allow those systems to continue in classrooms and beyond.
  • Integrate Restorative and Racial Justice values into life long, internal, and external work

**The intention of pre-session learning is to allow you to spend more time interacting and discussing rather than listening/watching in the short time we have together. There is 1 hour of video content (faster if you watch it sped up) and a few articles to read. **MAKE SURE YOU COMPLETE THE PRE-SESSION LEARNING BEFORE ATTENDING** (linked on the online event page)

I already know about Restorative Justice? Is this for me?

Our Intro to RJ workshop will probably cover many things that you know. And from our experience, many other "Intro" level workshops don't go into the Indigenous roots of this work, OR bring in the intersection with Racial Justice education. So it's totally up to you. We'd love to have you AND if you want to go deeper join our community and check out our more in depth courses here!

What if I've already attended Intro to RJ with Amplify RJ?

70% of the content will be the same, but if you've already attended an Intro session with us, you know that the experience is only partially driven by the content. The experience is largely shaped by the interactions you have with other people in the space. So it's totally up to you. We'd love to have you AND if you want to go deeper join our community and check out our more in depth courses here!

Can I get CEUs?

A "Certificate of Completion” saying you completed 2 hours of learning about Racial & Restorative Justice will be sent when you fill out the post-session reflection form :)

Will this be recorded? Can I get access to the recording?

This session will be recorded. The recording will be shared with those who are signed up within 2 days.
