Jazz Night at Cafe Erzulie

Description

Join us for a special Jazz Night performance featuring Kaya Nicole!

Westchester, NY native, multi-instrumentalist, Kaya Nicole released an acoustic album of covers in December of 2021. "Moody: A Selection of Songs for Everyday Sadness," features raw, and powerful interpretations of jazz, folk and soul favorites from artists like Nina Simone, Elizabeth Cotten, and Tom Jobim. Her rhythmic vocal style reminds one of the dynamic Carmen Miranda or Elis Regina, with a robust low end the likes of Lauryn Hill or Sarah Vaughan.

Kaya performs jazz, neo soul, folk, blues, bossa nova and hip hop, and has even been known to break into rap at least once a show to pay homage to her New York roots. Kaya Nicole will perform as a solo artist on an Eastern Tour, April through June of 2022, with select dates in New York debuting these arrangements in her jazz quartet, as well as new songs from her upcoming original album: "Tracing the Diaspora," sponsored in part by Arts Westchester's Arts Alive grant.
