Artist Statement

I paint to communicate the intimate impressions that life makes on my soul. In my recent project “Uplifting”, I made a conscious choice to concentrate on the positive side of life, on beautiful memories, and the things that make me happy now. My intention was to create paintings in which I pass on good vibes to the viewers, and my artworks will become the source of positive feelings and thoughts for them. The idea for this theme came to me in the Spring of 2020, when fear and isolation caused by the pandemic were widespread. Now, even though things got better, the idea did not get old. We, as a society, still need to learn how to find joy and contentment. We need to spend more time celebrating love, friendship, the beauty of nature, and an importance of the community. We need to learn gratitude. My compositions could be the inspiration for conversations about all that.

About the Artist:

Kasia Szczesniewski was born in Legnica, Poland. She studied Architecture at the Wroclaw University of Technology. This equipped her with strong drawing and designing skills. In 1987 she obtained a teaching degree from the College of Legnica, specializing in Art Education. After immigrating to Chicago in 1989, she completed several college level art courses, attended numerous professional workshops, and spent many years on self-educating refining her artistic skills.

Kasia invented and refined a uniquely special technique that combines properties of acrylic paints and paper. Her inspiration comes from nature’s mysterious beauty, and from believing in the deep connection between all elements of the universe. She is a keen proponent of positive thinking, mindfulness and gratitude.

Kasia is an active member of the Chicago art community, showing and selling her works, doing commissions, and organizing art events. She received many awards and exhibited her works in United States (Zhou Brothers Art Center, Chicago; Amsterdam-Whitney, New York; Polish Museum of America) and throughout the world (Art Expo Carousel du Louvre in Paris; Biennale d’Arte at Caserma dell’Artigliera of Peschiera del Garda, Italy; Segnalati in Berlin; Museum of Modern European Art in Barcelona, Spain; Zywiec Castle, Poland). She was interviewed by local radio and TV stations, published in art magazines (Art&Beyond Art International; Artists Bi-Annual; Living Artists of Today) and in other publications ( Suburban Life; Polish Weekly; Glos Polek; Polish Daily News; Nad Sola i Koszarawa).
