Join us for LSP Walk Together Caven Point inspired "Family Nature Art Drawing Activity" presented by Friend of Liberty State Park & JCPC

The WALK will leave at 10am from across the street from the LSP parking lot at 300 Morris Pesin Drive and the Art Activity will go from approx. 11am to 11:30. The activity will help nurture an appreciation for art and for nature.

Though the WALK and art activity officially ends at noon, people of all ages are welcome to do art and hang out on the beach for hours.

Pre-Registration via on-line or calling in advanced is encouraged to reserve art supplies. Walk-ins WELCOMED.

Adults are required to participate with children. This is not a drop off event.

The JCPC Nature Journaling team will teach children (and parents) to connect with nature through observation. You don’t need to be an artist or naturist to enjoy this session. Art supplies will be provided free while supplies last.

LIBERTY STATE PARK CAVEN POINT NATURE ART DRAWING PROGRAM OVERVIEW & PURPOSE

LSP Caven Point Natural Area beach Nature Art Activity for children/youth after Protection bill Walk

This workshop is part of The Jersey City Parks Coalition (JCPC) Nature Educational & Community Programming, the JCPC is offering this Family-Friendly create your own Nature Log Book workshop with children Ages: 5 years old and up

Drawing exercises will bring an emphasis on building strong observation skills and mindful recording of facts and feelings while creating beautiful organic illustrations. We encourage students to explore their surrounding environments and to use art materials as a recording modality.

OBJECTIVE

Learn about: line drawing, patterns in nature, plant identification, and about artists and naturalists past and present.

MATERIALS PROVIDED by Friends of Liberty State Park (FoLSP) & Jersey City Parks Coalition (JCPC)

Each registered participant will receive individual art supplies to take home after the event. Free while supplies last.

Pre-Registration recommended in advance. First 40 participants.

Please arrive 15 minutes in advance to check in.

Adults are required to participate with children. This is not a drop off event.

About the Art Therapist

Athena Flora Toledo

“Athena has extensive experience working with community groups and organizations. She has worked as an art teacher’s assistant at the Ethical Community Charter School in Jersey City. Athena also worked with gallery tours and children’s workshops at the mana contemporary museum of art.

Athena Toledo currently lives and works in Jersey City Heights. Athena’s goal is to work in facilities around Jersey City as an Art Therapist, leading workshops in open studio settings.”
