Live at DSK: Fiction Book Group with Alexis!

Description

For the first time since 2020, our fiction book group is resuming in-person meetings! Hosted by our neighbors at Die Stammkneipe Brooklyn (710 Fulton St.) and led by former Greenlight general manager Alexis, our fiction book group meets monthly to discuss paperback fiction, reading broadly in contemporary fiction with the occasional diversion into classics. For June, the group discusses Louise Erdrich’s Pulitzer Prize-winning and New York Times bestselling novel The Night Watchman. Based on the extraordinary life of National Book Award-winning author Louise Erdrich’s grandfather who worked as a night watchman and carried the fight against Native dispossession from rural North Dakota all the way to Washington, D.C., this powerful novel explores themes of love and death with lightness and gravity and unfolds with the elegant prose, sly humor, and depth of feeling of a master craftsman. Illuminating the loves and lives, the desires and ambitions of her characters with compassion, wit, and intelligence, The Night Watchman is a majestic work of fiction from this revered cultural treasure. Join us for the first in-person reunion of our popular fiction book group in over two years!

Can't make it in person? Fiction Book Group will be exploring a hybrid model, with both in-person and virtual attendees! To attend via zoom, you can register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEqde2ppjwuGNVqI82i9piR7Zgk18onGRLx
