Description

The Tree of Life Synagogue massacre in Pittsburgh was the deadliest attack on Jews in the history of the United States. On the fourth anniversary of the shootings, renowned author and podcaster Mark Oppenheimer joins us to speak about his book, Squirrel Hill, and what enabled a community to move forward together in the wake of hatred and grief.

Mark Oppenheimer is a leading voice within contemporary American Judaism. He co-hosts Tablet magazine's Unorthodox ("the world's leading Jewish podcast"). Oppenheimer is a former columnist for the New York Times and until May 2022 directed the Yale Journalism Initiative. He's also the author of five books. His latest is Squirrel Hill: The Tree of Life Synagogue Shootings and the Soul of the Neighborhood, describe as "propulsive" (New York Times), "powerful" (Washington Post), and "compelling" (Wall Street Journal).

Q&A will follow Oppenheimer's discussion of his book.
