Mindful Parenting: the Space to Respond

Description

Note:

This workshop has 3 sessions, on October 19th, 26th, and November 2nd. When you register, you are signing up for all 3--there is no drop-in option, as we aim to foster a sense of community and connection in all of our offerings.

HeartGeneration Presents:

A 3-week virtual workshop led by Jennifer Monness, founder of The Meditation Lab and mother of six, experience a supportive space to explore mindful parenting practices and basic meditation skills to help relax your mind and body, to regulate and befriend the many big emotions that accompany parenthood and care-taking.

These practices positively impact the nervous system in a way that creates space for choice in how you respond to the many challenges and changes of parenthood, and helps foster more fulfilling relationships—with your children, and with yourself.

WHAT DOES “THE SPACE TO RESPOND” MEAN?

The journey to and through parenthood can involve many turbulent turns through a series of profound peaks and valleys of personal growth that society often fails to adequately acknowledge, prepare us for, or support us through.

Neuroscience tells us that in order to be the most effective caretakers and role models, and to foster the healthiest relationships with those who depend on us for care, we have to first regulate and calm our own nervous systems. We have to befriend ourselves first, in order to offer the best care for others.

In this workshop, you will join a supportive community of other parents, guided by mindfulness expert and mother of six, Jennifer Monness, to explore mindfulness practices and perspectives, as well as basic meditation skills to help relax the mind and body. You’ll gain the tools you need to create more space for making conscious choices about how you respond as a parent, and as a person. You have the opportunity to:

  • BEFRIEND YOUR INNER PARENT
  • CREATE SPACE TO RESPOND
  • FIND COMMUNITY & SUPPORT

We will learn to integrate 3 key strategies of mindful parenting:

✅ NOTICE YOUR FEELINGS DURING CONFLICT

✅ LEARN TO PAUSE BEFORE RESPONDING

✅ LISTEN ACTIVELY (EVEN WHEN YOU DISAGREE)

These skills will enhance your relationship with your children, and with yourself. They’ll also enable you to become a strong role model for how to handle challenges in all kinds of relationships.

Group discussions will explore how to integrate these strategies into the reality of life as a parent.
