Minecraft Club: Grades 3-6 Minecraft Education with MakeCode for Beginners

Description

Use Microsoft’s Block Coding Platform to Modify Minecraft

Minecraft Education integrates seamlessly with Microsoft’s MakeCode coding platform to allow students to modify their Minecraft world with visual code. MakeCode teaches the 1010 of programming, including variables, control flow, if statements, loops and functions – all in a familiar Minecraft environment.

Activities

  • Learn the basics of coding in an easy-to-use visual interface.
  • Chicken rain – Ever had thousands of chickens falling towards you like rain?
  • Create a Mega Jump super power for your character.
  • Learn how to make your character walk on water with nested loops
  • Play mini games at the end of class

What Parents Gain

We all want our kids to find their passion or engage in activities that stimulate their love of learning. Parents will see their children learn problem solving techniques, a drive to try something new, and gain knowledge about coding and technology that can assist them in the future all while in a safe and monitored environment.

Schedule

We'll meet monthly on Fridays from 6:00-7:30 p.m. during the semester.

Our 5 sessions will run from August 26 to December 2.
