How do we come up with the most efficient and affordable ways to travel along Monterey Road in South San Jose? That’s what we plan to answer in an upcoming community workshop on the Monterey Road Corridor Community-Based Transportation Plan. Your voice matters!
The Monterey Road Corridor Community-Based Transportation Plan (CBTP) is a community-driven investment plan for transportation solutions that reflect the needs, priorities, and values. Projects in the final Plan may address community concerns such as bicycle and pedestrian connectivity, public transportation amenities like new bus shelters, local roads, and street improvements, and the integration of new technologies with transportation.
The CBTP is focused on the stretch of Monterey Road between Alma Avenue, and Blossom Hill Road, which is about 5.8 miles long. The objectives of the CBTP are to:
The purpose of this workshop is to meet with community members and understand, from community feedback, what are the transportation challenges along this section of Monterey Road. Together, we can develop strategies to overcome them.
Additional information on how residents can utilize VTA’s services to get to their destinations will also be available. The goal is to develop a transportation plan including locally identified transportation needs and solutions that address them.
The results of the final Community-Based Transportation Plan will be an essential tool for supporting VTA, the City of San Jose, and the community to pursue projects when funding becomes available.
