DESCRIPTION:

Lorrimer Sanctuary invites families, friends, and nature lovers to join us for an exploration of our natural world. Enjoy watching your budding naturalist ‘go wild’ experiencing woodland adventures. Children use all their senses to safely explore and discover the wonders of nature here at Lorrimer Sanctuary. Children are introduced to nature concepts using a combination of storytelling, exploration and arts and crafts.

It is educational and fun!

Best for families with children under 10.

SCHEDULE:

September 17 - Meet and Greet with Lorrimer's Resident Reptiles: Slither on by to meet our animal ambassadors, corn snake, Sunny and box turtle, Gordon.

September 24 - Leaf Lessons: Join us for a fall leaf hike and gather materials for a Fall Leaf Wreath.

October 1 - NO NATURE EXPLORERS

October 8 - Colors of Nature: Join us as we extract the hidden colors within our found natural materials and create wonderful works of art.

October 15 - Apple Cidering: A seasonal favorite! Join us as we experience the old-fashioned method of pressing apple cider.

October 22 - Spooky Animals: Spiders, and Bats, and Black Cats! Oh MY! Join us for creepy-crawly crafts!

October 29 - Tree Trunk or Treat: We'll be learning about trees and having a treat of a time at this Halloween special program, costumes encouraged!

November 5 - Magnificent Mammals: Join us for a mammal scavenger hunt on our trails to find who lives at Lorrimer.

November 12 - Bird-Friendly Crafts: Create a tasty treat for your backyard feathered friends !

COST:

$8 per child for members, $10 per child for nonmembers.

NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES:

All unvaccinated participants must wear a mask when indoors. Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Programs run completely outdoors/rain or shine so please come prepared for wet/muddy conditions. Dress for the weather.

Pre-registration is required

Maximum of two children per adult; all sessions limited to 12 children.

CANCELLATION: : NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however registrations can be transferred to another program in the future.
