NCNW is a 501©3 not-for-profit, volunteer organization founded on December 5, 1935 by Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune. Our mission is to lead, develop and advocate for women of African descent as they support their families and communities. The Queens County Section was organized on May 13, 1987 by Reva Anthony to carry on Dr. Bethune’s legacy. The Awards Banquet is the Queens County Section’s only fundraiser which allows us to support the programs of our national office as well as our local Queens-based community service projects focused on clothing and food distribution, cultural arts, economic development, education, health, international issues, voter education, Thanksgiving baskets for families in need and youth leadership development.
