Nebraska World Affairs Council Membership Renewal 2022

Description

This is the start of our 50th year. There is no other group in Nebraska quite like the NEBRASKA WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL.

Here are some highlights:

PROGRAMS - Members convene to listen to an international affairs authority present a talk on a topic related to his/her experience and expertise. Since the pandemic hit, we have been sponsoring Zoom webinars that have featured speakers in other time zones and even other countries on a variety of timely topics. (Please Note: We are open to new ideas for programs that might not fit our current format – especially when circumstances will allow for other options in the future.)

MEMBERSHIP – Membership is open to anyone with an interest in learning about international topics and having the opportunity to meet with like-minded individuals on a regular basis. Spouses and guests are always welcome. New this year, we have a wonderful new benefit exclusively for paid Council members -- a free, annual subscription to DailyChatter, an independent, fact-based, non-partisan newsletter dedicated to world news coverage.

DUES – In the past, the club had little expense other than covering the cost of meals for our guest speakers and administrative staff when we were able to have in-person events and for administrative support. In the near future, we hope to be able to have enough sustainable funding to join the World Affairs Councils of America. We previously sent invitations for events and membership applications by regular mail, but have been able to reduce costs substantially by sending out meeting notices exclusively by email for the past few years. We are offering membership categories as follows:

• Regular Member $ 45 + processing = $49.37

• Teacher Member $ 15 + processing = $17.55

• Non-Profit Member $100 + processing =$107.72

• Small Business Membership (50 or fewer employees)

$250 + processing = $266.85

• Corporate Membership (More than 50 employees)

$500 + processing = $532.07

* Student Membership FREE (please contact our coordinator, Vickie Stone, for

additional details - vicstone@unomaha.edu)

STRUCTURE - Just in the past year, the group applied for and was granted non-profit organization status. We have a Board of Directors that is meeting regularly on Zoom and is investigating different strategies and models for how our council may improve and reach new audiences. Stay tuned for more information as this develops.

The club year starts in January. Recommendations for new members are always appreciated. If you would like to be a member, please click on the green ticket button that appears on the upper right side of the screen. and select and pay for the appropriate membership category as described above. If you prefer to pay by check, please send a check payable for the proper amount, minus the processing fee, to

Nebraska World Affairs Council, c/o Vickie Stone, 8711 Valley St., Omaha, NE 68124

Thank you.
