“Artists at Work is a studio residency and professional development program designed for contemporary artists representing a wide range of creative practice within the Fountain House Gallery and Studio roster,” said Gallery Director Rachel Weisman. “The Gallery customarily serves as a one-sided platform for connecting with our artists via finalized pieces of artwork; now, the general public has an opportunity to engage with and learn from these artists as they expand their creative practice, further challenging the stigma around people living with serious mental illness.”

Artists participating in the program will be working on previously unrealized projects, with an emphasis on developing public workshops, artist talks, and more.

The 2022 Artists at Work artists are: Christine Albane, Kristine Fox, Guiomar Giraldo-Baron, Rene Santiago, Corey Streeter, vermilion, and Boo Lynn Walsh.

This program is funded, in part, by generous support from the Renate, Hans and Maria Hofmann Trust, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the David Rockefeller Fund, and the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund.

About Fountain House Gallery and Studio

Fountain House Gallery and Studio provides an environment where artists living with mental illness can express their creative visions and exhibit their work. Founded by Fountain House in 2000, the Manhattan-based Gallery sells original artworks and collaborates with a wide network of artists, curators and cultural institutions. The Studio, located in Long Island City, is a collaborative workspace that furthers the professional practice of our artists. Embracing artists who are emerging or established, trained or self-taught, Fountain House Gallery cultivates artistic growth, makes a vital contribution to the New York arts community, and challenges the stigma surrounding mental illness.

More than a gallery. A movement.
