Orientation to Disaster Behavioral Health

This orientation is targeted to individuals who have interest in learning more about disaster behavioral health services in Virginia.

Participants may attend for training purposes with an option to complete the prerequisites (provided below) to become a volunteer for the Disaster Behavioral Health Team. This orientation will review details and logistics around deploying as a team member to support shelters, family assistance centers, and other disaster support efforts in Virginia.

Training Prerequisites and Requirements for the VA Disaster Behaviorial Health Team

Prior to attending this training, you should have completed the following prerequisites:

1. IS 100 (online here)

2. IS 700 (online here)

3. Completion of Psychological First Aid (online here), CCP (Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program), NOVA (National Organization for Victims Assistance) or other evidence informed disaster or crisis response training.
