Description

During the Seminar, we will be presenting a powerpoint presentation that will cover the natural history of the 11 species of owls that can be found in Northern Colorado.

The species that we will discuss include the Great Horned, Long-eared, Short-eared, Barn, Burrowing, Eastern Screech, Boreal, Northern Saw-whet, Northern Pygmy, and Flammulated Owls.

We will discuss each species' courtship, nesting, egg-laying, growth of the young, feeding, and much more.

Throughout the presentation, you will see videos of the owls vocalizing, hunting, and raising their young.

During the seminar, we will take you to an active Barn Owl nest and band young Barn Owls, showing the participants one aspect of researching owls.
