Description

Pregnancy Information Circle & Lunch, PIC'L is a FREE Virtual Childbirth Education series is hosted and facilitated by the Atlanta Doula Collective. These instructors have a wide rage of expertise such as, labor support specialists, midwifery, placenta encapsulators, lactation counselors, herbalist and womb healing consultants. This virtual childbirth education series provides evidence-based information to help pregnant, birthing and postpartum families make informed decisions about their maternal care.

October 2nd - Pregnancy Nutrition, Instructed by Aaliyah Wilson. During pregnancy, the foods eaten by mother, directly effects the growth and development of her baby. The idea of eating for two in pregnancy s a misnomer that can lead to high-risk conditions. This class will focus on Pregnancy Nutrition and the impact of food, supplements and even thoughts on a developing baby.

October 16th - Birth Options, Instructed by Celena Martin. Birthing Options explores a variety of settings, techniques and ideas for birthing your baby. We will discuss options for creating a birth plan to help align your support team and care providers with your labor, birth and postpartum goals.

November 6th - Comfort Measures for Birth, Instructed by Tiara Calahan. Women who suffer from fear of childbirth during pregnancy have an increased rate of emergency Caesarean sections or complicated vaginal births. The more you learn about the birthing process and what to expect will help to decrease these fears. Whether you choose to birth naturally or medicated, Comfort Techniques can be beneficial for labor and birth

November 20th - Breastfeeding Basics, Instructed by Claudia Gonzalez. Breastfeeding can be a rewarding journey for the entire family. Whether you decide to breastfeed for one month or one year there are numerous benefits for both mom and baby. Breastmilk contains all the nutrients required for a newborn to grow at their fullest potential. Though breastfeeding is a natural process, it can sometimes present with challenges. The Breastfeeding Basics session presents informative tips to help you have a successful breastfeeding journey.

December 4th - Baby Basics & Infant CPR (3 hour class), Instructed by Markeshia Wilson. Whether a first-time parent or a veteran, having a newborn baby can be filled with both excitement and concern. Coupled with Infant CPR, this informative class will touch on feeding, soothing, bathing, diapering and more to help to ease concerns about newborn care. The infant CPR addition provides safety and precautionary tips to help avoid SIDs and timely response for choking. No certification provided.

December 18th - Postpartum Recovery, Instructed by Thomecia Busby. Many parents will prepare intensely for birth, yet fail to plan for the postpartum. The postpartum period, a.k.a. the Fourth Trimester, can be exhausting and filled with unexpected experiences if not prepared. This class educates families about what to expect in the fourth trimester in terms of physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
