No matter how good a political candidate is, their success depends on good marketing. And good marketing needs good design. Join Crystal Reynolds as she spins her tale taking on the role of Communications for the winning Jyoti Gondek for Mayor Campaign. Everything she wishes she knew before she started and everything she is glad that she didn’t.

Over the ten months between January 13, 2021, and October 18, 2021, Crystal created, managed, produced, and directed all visual elements of the campaign. From the brand development, social media postings, t-shirts, buttons, hats, and more swag, a total of six brochures conceptualized and produced, a variety of digital brochures, head office interior, and exterior design, and so many signs!

She learned how campaigns are different from service marketing, and the value of guiding and supporting creative from other team members while keeping everyone on track for brand messaging consistency.

After twenty-five years working with clients, design needs Crystal Reynolds has been developing a creative business that collaborates with them as a design partner to communicate their business visually.

Crystal chooses to work with organizations that adjust to the changes their industry throws at them by choosing to take the lead in their own story. They avoid, or at least question, the latest marketing trends, and instead create their own opportunities to account for social and technological changes.

She has worked with local and national organizations such as the Canadian Mental Health Commission and her own municipal government. With a love of publication design, she has worked with magazines such as Creative Scrapbooker, Mompreneur, and Discovering Antiques. And most recently she completed a 736 manual with the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
