Event Info + FAQ

Oakland Queer Soup Night is an event that honors and celebrates queer food community and culture in the Bay, prioritizing Queer, Trans People of Color. This month, we are raising funds to uplift the work of Flying Over Walls, a Queer-Trans Prisoner Solidarity Project in the SF/Bay Area.

• Sliding Scale Ticket: There is a sliding scale suggested donation of $10-20. We will accept cash or Venmo at the entrance. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
• COVID safety: Masks are highly encouraged. Proof of vaccination or negative COVID test within 24 hours will be checked at entrance.
• Venue Information: This event will primarily be outdoors. Folks must go inside to access restrooms and purchase drinks. The entire venue is street level and there are no steps required to access the event. Seating areas will be available throughout the space.
• Proceeds: After reimbursements for food expenses and stipends to the soup participants and photographer, 100% of the donations collected from Queer Soup Night will go to the beneficiary.
• Transportation: AC Transit is the most accessible public transit stop to Rare Barrel; see actransit.gov for their trip planner.
• Sustainability: We encourage guests to bring their own bowl and spoon. Compostable wares and utensils will be provided as well.
• Scents and Chemicals: We encourage folks to arrive low-scent/fragrance-free.
• This event is all-ages!

Queer Soup Night is a queer community event serving soup to those we love, raising money for local org and causes that we support. Founded in 2017 in Brooklyn, QSN raised over $70,000 for various organizations through events across the country. We kicked off our Oakland chapter with our first event on March 10th, 2019, where we gathered 200+ attendees and raised $2,000 for Bloom Community Transgender Healing Project. Before we put a pause on events due to the pandemic, our chapter raised over $13,000 for six different organizations.
