Restorative Approaches: Adopting the Paradigm

Description

After reviewing and examining restorative philosophy and principles, attendees will engage in a variety of restorative practices useful at every level of our learning communities. This two-day training is designed for K-12 educators and other school personnel in Maryland.

On Day One (Friday, October 21st) of your learning journey, we will examine the restorative philosophy, its principles and informal practices. Attendees will explore how the restorative paradigm can apply in the daily life of an educator. We will also consider why restorative discipline works and will apply restorative principles and informal practices to typical situations in classrooms across Maryland.

Day Two (Monday, October 24th) builds on the foundation of the first day as we delve into restorative circles and their structure, as well as important considerations and techniques to set your practice up for success. We will then practice what we’ve learned so you can return to your school ready to expand and deepen restorative approaches in your learning community.
