Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre at Riverside Park, Indianapolis, IN

The Indianapolis Shakespeare Company is thrilled to invite you to our 2022 mainstage production, "Ricky 3 - A Hip Hop Shakespeare Richard III!" Our resident home is located at the Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre in Riverside Park.

Our performances are FREE TO ATTEND, so bring lots of friends and family, and get ready to enjoy a fun show that brilliantly intertwines the two prolific art forms of Shakespeare and Hip Hop.

NOTE: Seating is NOT provided. Please bring your own lawn chair, picnic blanket, or beach chair. Beach chairs and blankets only are permitted at the front section of the Amphitheatre. This is an outdoor event with no shade so please consider packing sunscreen, hat, bug spray, etc. to ensure the most comfortable experience! Handheld fans are permitted as long as they do not have flashing lights.

SCHEDULE:

  • Doors open at 7 p.m. Please come enjoy the pre-show music provided by local Indianapolis artists, visit our community vendor booths to find out more about their organizations, and pick up your pre-ordered food or bring your own picnic.
  • The show starts at 8 p.m. There will be a brief intermission around 9pm with the show concluding at 10pm.

FOOD:

NEW this year! Onsite food is available by PREORDER ONLY! We will not have food trucks this year but are offering terrific food options to be preordered here on Eventbrite. You will pick up your food at the Taggart from our vendors. Vendors may have some additional food for sale each evening, but those supplies will be limited. Be sure to preorder your food! Or, as always, you may pack your own picnic.

BEVERAGES:

Water, soda, beer, and wine will be available for sale each evening with no preorder needed.

PARKING:

  • Onsite parking is FREE and golf cart shuttles will be available to assist patrons to and from their parking spot. Parking is available in the lots on the East & West sides of the Riverside Family Center and along N. White River Parkway East Drive. An ADA accessible drop-off & pickup zone is located on Burdsal Parkway at the South Entrance to the Amphitheatre. ADA parking is available in the Riverside Family Center parking lots.

BICYCLE PARKING

Bicycle parking is available at the South entrance on Burdsal Parkway just inside the Taggart fence.

PETS

We would love to have you share the joy of theatre with your favorite pet, but we can only allow service dogs for our performances. There are no other pets permitted at Indy Shakes performances. Thank you in advance for understanding.

VIP TICKETS:

  • All performances are FREE to attend. Limited VIP Tickets are available for purchase and include premium seating with table and chairs provided and a special VIP gift.

LIVESTREAMED PERFORMANCE OPTION :

  • If you are unable to attend in person, we invite you to still register to receive a link to our free livestreamed performance on Thursday, July 28.

ASL INTERPRETED PERFORMANCE (Livestream Option Available):

  • We are proud to once again offer an ASL interpreted performance on Thursday, July 28th. If you are unable to attend in person, this performance will also be available as a livestream so please register to receive a link to the livestream performance.

WEATHER:

  • Please monitor your email, Indy Shakes social media, and the Indy Shakes website for any weather updates. In the event of a rain cancellation, all registered attendees will be notified. VIP Ticket purchasers will receive a refund confirmation within 48 hours.

COVID PRECAUTIONS:

  • Indy Shakes is monitoring Marion County Covid 19 guidelines. At this time, there are no restrictions for our outdoor event.

  • The Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre is located in Riverside Regional Park on Indy’s northwest side north of 16th Street, South of 29th Street, and East of the White River.
  • NOTE that the 30th Street Bridge is under construction and 29th & 30th Streets (near Marian University & Riverside Herron High School) will be closed.

PARKING AND EVENT MAP BELOW

From the North

  • Travel south on I-65 and exit onto 16th Street. (Or travel south on Meridian St to 16th St).
  • Turn right (west) on 16th St.
  • Turn right (north) onto E. Riverside Dr (you will pass Bush Stadium Apartments on your left and will see Kuntz Soccer Stadium and Vision Academy on your right at the stoplight).
  • Once on E. Riverside Dr, you will immediately turn left (west) onto 18th St at the South Grove Golf Course (unless you have an ADA drop-off—see below).
  • Continue around the bend and 18th St becomes N. White River Pkwy E. Dr. Parking is available right on N. White River Pkwy E. Dr near the Taggart and also by continuing past the Taggart to the Riverside Aquatic & Family Center Parking Lot.
  • For ADA Drop-off: Do NOT turn on 18th St but continue on E. Riverside Dr. about one mile to Burdsal Pkwy. Turn left (west) onto Burdsal Pkwy and ADA drop-off is right next to the Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre.

From the East

  • Travel west on I-70; Merge onto I-65N; Exit 21st St.
  • Turn left (west) onto 21st St.
  • Turn right (north) onto Doctor MLK Jr Street for .3 mile.
  • Turn left (west) onto Fall Creek Blvd.
  • Continue on Fall Creek Blvd which becomes Burdsal Pkwy and ends at the Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre for ADA drop-off. Burdsal then “t’s” into N. White River Pkwy E. Dr where parking is located.

From the South

  • Travel north on I-65; Exit onto I-70W; Continue for one mile.
  • Exit 79A towards West St.
  • Keep right at the fork and follow signs for Riley Hospital.
  • Merge onto Missouri St; Continue for 1.5 miles.
  • Turn left (northwest) onto Indiana Ave for 1.3 miles.
  • Turn left (west) onto 16th St for .3 mile.
  • Turn right (north) onto E. Riverside Dr (you will pass Bush Stadium Apartments on your left and will see Kuntz Soccer Stadium and Vision Academy on your right at the stoplight.)
  • Once on E. Riverside Dr, you will immediately turn left (west) onto 18th St at the South Grove Golf Course (unless you have an ADA drop-off see below).

  • Turn West on 18th Street by South Grove Golf Course
  • Continue around the bend and 18th St becomes N. White River Pkwy E. Dr. Parking is available right on N. White River Pkwy E. Dr. and also by continuing past the Taggart to the Riverside Aquatic & Family Center Parking Lot.

ADA Drop-off is located at the south end of Taggart Memorial Amphitheatre at 1856 Burdsal Pkwy: Travel westbound on Burdsal Parkway for ADA drop-off at the South Taggart entrance. ADA parking is available in the Riverside Family Center parking lots.
