Shingle Creek North Sector Hike - Hunters Creek Vistas Park II

Description

Shingle Creek is the headwaters of the Everglades, flowing into Lake Toho, which eventually feeds the Kissimmee River that runs into Lake Okeechobee. The area that we will be hiking is a suburban park, a little bit of Old Florida preserved in the middle of Hunters Creek. This area attracts many birds as well as being home for many native plants.

The area is boggy during wet weather, and alligators make their home in this swamp. For this reason, we do not recommend bringing your dog on this outing.

Be sure to dress appropriately, wearing shoes that could get wet and bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent. Parking for this event is at the Vistas II Park (jungle gym and restroom); we will hike from there into the conservation area.
