This 6-week course is a weaving of somatic practice, polyvagal exercises, free movement, nature’s teachings, simple compassionate guidance, inspiring music and authentic connection in community.

It is so important to pause, move and recharge particularly in these unique times where there is so much change, noise, conflicting opinions and environments of distress. This is a space to exhale, shake off and tune into the deeper sanity of nature's rhythms.

Learning to meet these times resourced and self connected, rather than from a self-protective posture, you will be given simple, short practices to tone your nervous system (like toning muscles) towards empowered relaxation through the lens of the Polyvagal perspective of Deb Dana and Dr. Stephen Porges.

This ongoing group fulfills 15% of your pre-requisite hours for the Movement Medicine Apprenticeship Program and will suit most continuing education purposes for therapists.

This course is essential learning for all therapists in the health and wellness field, teachers, caregivers-- and people curious about somatic practices, new practical tools for toning the Polyvagel system, and Neuroscience.

These tools are not only important for your clients, but also for your own self care.

SOMATIC NATURE is taught by a qualified practicing psychotherapist. expert in the growing field of trauma informed embodied therapy. Extensively trained in Internal Family Systems and the Polyvagel Theory, former faculty member of the School of Movement Medicine David Mooney's full bio below.

Will be woven through this 6 week journey with a 30-day challenge to move together everyday or solo in your own time to really take ownership of your innate capacity for living these times. With the right support and guidance we can move from perceived self-centeredness to a centering of self. This movement is all about where we place ourselves. When self is placed in resource, a place of holding of earth, body, nature, dance and community through safe connection, then we don't have to ‘will’ ourselves in life imagining that our ‘self’ has to do all the work to meet these times and our own unique inner and outer challenges.

We can remember, even for moments, to be held by life rather than the distress of trying to do it all myself and hold life.

ABOUT DAVID MOONEY

David is a highly qualified Movement Medicine teacher that has worked closely with the Creators of Movement Medicine, Ya'Acov and Susannah Darling Khan, for 19 years. He was part of the School European Faculty for 9 years and has been teaching Movement Medicine in Ireland, 18 countries in Europe and in the US over the past 12 years. David and his wife Yasia will be the first Movement Medicine teachers to hold the Movement Medicine Apprenticeship program in 2021.

Also the founder of Funky Seomra alcohol and drug free nightclub, David has hosted over 42,000 people over the past 10 years attracting much TV, radio and print media coverage across Ireland.

David is also a fully qualified and practicing psychotherapist with a background in psychodynamic psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing and Internal Family Systems.

Deeply connected to a Lakota community in Canada, David has been attending ceremonies there for the past 7 years.

THE PRACTICALS

• We ask that you to commit to attend all sessions to the best of your ability. We are all important in this practice-- each of us is an important element of this constellation.

Registration is limited so we can be a small intimate group.. First come first served. Please register early if you are called.

We invite you to please consider this to create an optimum experience:

Create a safe space for dancing-- whether on a floor or carpet-- make sure the space is clear and free of hazards.

Create some private space so that people who are sharing cannot be heard by unfamiliar people so we can be authentic and express themselves safely.

Source a good set of Bluetooth headphones or a speaker -- the better the sound quality the more you will be able to enjoy David’s magical music mixes and guidance.
