Summer Yoga in Alexandra Park,English Bay

Join us for summer sunset yoga and meditation in the park (Alexandra park between Beach and Bidwell st- next to Burnaby st) starting 16th Jun through mid-September.

This event will always be By donation/Pay what you can (Suggested donation - CAD$10-15). If you cannot afford to join the class, please message me and I will sign you up for free.

We are local Vancouver based Yoga teachers who want to share the medicine of yoga to the neighbourhood and community.

The yoga sessions will be designed to liberate physical, mental and emotional tension. We will be focusing on the breath and creating space and time for ourselves to explore, go deeper inside and improve our ability to experience the present moment. A perfect balance to cultivate a beautiful mindset, get grounded, move our bodies with a new sense of peace.

Facilitators:

Alex

Alexandra, is a French yoga teacher, student and practitioner. She started practicing yoga five years ago and immediately felt drawn to that ancestral spiritual practice. She built strong routines around it and have been practicing around the globe throughout her travels and relocations.

Her wish is to make yoga accessible to everybody. Practicing yoga has shined a light on areas of her life; she feels more connected to her Truth, more in line with herself. She wants to share this practice and help you find your way.

She teaches Vinyasa and Hatha flows. In her classes she will focus on grounding by cultivating presence, and finding ways to help you to connect to yourself.

Amanda

Amanda is a yoga teacher passionate about inspiring others to improve physical and mental wellness. She teaches trauma sensitive yoga classes, slow flow, gentle hatha and yin yoga. She is also a reiki master. Her classes are accessible to everyone and every body. For Amanda, teaching yoga means helping students to feel empowered and giving them autonomy over their own practice and body. From beginners to advanced, she holds a safe space and provides students with the support they need, inviting them to slow down and explore themselves with kindness and compassion.

Ami

Ami Bajwa (Nirvanami Yoga & Wellness) is a yoga, meditation and wellness practitioner on a mission to help provide relaxation and rest to her students. She teaches Yin yoga, Yoga Nidra & Restorative practices along with slow flow/hatha yoga and Pranayama (breathing exercises) that help activate the parasympathetic nervous system. She always leads and ends her class with guided/sound meditation and poetry - practicing all 8 limbs of yoga (vs only the Asanas).

She is a sound ceremonialist and combines crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, chimes and other music instruments to lead her clients into a deep state of relaxation. She is also a Reiki Master.

Her practice is exactly like a bowl of Indian curry - with an explosion of different physical, emotional, mental and spiritual practices that have helped her in her own healing journey. All bodies, ages are welcome to her classes, and you do not have to be “fit” to join her classes. She aims to nourish her students with compassion, metta loving kindness and her positive energy.

Caitlin

Caitlin (she/they) is a wellness guide, energy worker, and yoga teacher who was trained in hatha yoga. She primarily teaches outside as she believes connection to nature is a pivotal part of connecting to the self. As a neurodivergent, queer, disabled, and fat bodied teacher they specialize in making class an accessible and welcoming space for mind, body, spirit alignment. Her signature Rest & Relaxation class consists almost entirely of seated and laying positions, so it’s low impact. They teach from a trauma-informed place and honour the spiritual practice of yoga beyond just asana (physical postures). You can expect meditation and breath work, the roots of yoga, as well as quiet calming music to be included in the class.

Darian

Darian Mark is a RYT 200 Yoga Teacher, Reiki Practitioner and Dance Artist for over 20 years. Starting his movement journey in the dance studio, Darian eventually found Yoga as a way to deepen his physical practice with a more holistic and encompassing modality. From the moment he started exploring the vastness and richness of Yoga, his life has continued to expand and blossom. This growth led him to Reiki, which is a Japanese tradition of energy healing.

With the influence of these three practices, Darian creates a space for practitioners to play and explore their mind, body and spirit. The possibilities are truly endless when we are grounded in the truth of who we are.

Darian also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Ryerson University and is constantly inspired by the beauty of nature and all the creatures it houses.

Leyre

Yoga and Breathwork were the most profoundly liberating discovery of Leyre Murillo’s life. It opened a new door to understand the patterns of the mind, how that affects the body and the way she looks at life. Through this journey, she learnt how to self-regulate by being with all body sensations as they are, and feeling safe and connected. As a teacher, she is committed to bringing incredible supportive and safe space where you will be invited to be YOU and she will be honoured to accompany you on your journey.
