The How Are You Project is a participatory theatre project that interrogates the everyday question of "how are you?" for people with non-visible disabilities and chronic illness; the many ‘versions' of response we give to that question, constantly navigating the who, what, whys and hows! Responding to that question was a particularly problematic area for me around the time of my MS diagnosis - this has been the starting point for The How Are You Project.
- “The How Are You Project” runs as short, group or one to one workshop sessions on Zoom.
- The project is a safe and supportive space to creatively explore how we navigate answering “how are you?”
- Participants (and facilitator) include people with a wide range of non-visible disabilities.
- Participation is free - attend as little or as much as you like.
- The project is founded and facilitated by Laura Rees, previously an actor for 20 years in London’s West-End, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Royal National theatre, BBC, ITV.
- The project is funded by the Arts Council of England. This is the development stage for creating a verbatim performance that will share the project testimonies (with permission from participants).
