See the Read House in a different light with our brand-new interior tour experience. You'll discover complex layers of history hidden in the architecture and furnishings of this stunning National Historic Landmark—history that continues to inspire and challenge us as it has for generations.

From its beginnings in 1797 to its appearances in 20th-century books and magazines to its conversion into a museum in 1976, the Read House has long been a part of national conversations about design and historic preservation. As tours pass from one light-filled room to the next, each space offers a fresh chance to reflect on how people before us have seen themselves and their communities.

The New Tour is an invitation to bring your own wisdom, interests, and sensibilities to the Read House & Gardens. Help us understand what this old house can mean to our own community in the present, and how we can imagine its future together!

You can read more about the Read House on our website—and be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
