Join longtime San Francisco walking tour guide, David Giesen, on a tour of San Francisco exploring the deep Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) roots bloomed in this city. From laundry runs to Hawaii during the Gold Rush to winning the vote for Mayor in 2019, Pacific Islanders, Chinese, Japanese, Filipinos, Vietnamese, Indians, and the balance of Asian-Americans have materially shaped the land and culture of Fog Town. In less than an hour you'll visit 15 sites where big-time history was made . . . and is being made by Asian-American Pacific Islanders! The unifying theme is "How do we get our share of liberty?"

About our Presenter:

David Giesen is a middle school English and social studies teacher, and an amateur historian and social issues fiction writer living in San Francisco. He has been a HI USA volunteer since 1998.
