  • The structure of a bicycle including components and mechanics
  • Fitting your bicycle correctly
  • Materials and gear to bring on a bike ride
  • How to ride in almost any road situation
  • Safe habits for group riding
  • Riding in all weather conditions
  • Riding at night

  • and more.

This class is open to adults 18 and over. No bike or helmet are required.

This class is the pre-requisite for taking Smart Cycling Part 2 (On-Bike), where we put into practice what is learned in the classroom. Taking Part 2 is highly recommended, as hands-on practice is critical to successful learning!

This class is provided to the public for free with funding from 2016 Measure B courtesy of VTA and Santa Clara County Public Health.
