The Smart Cycling Part 2 (On Bike) class is a 6-hour outdoor workshop where you will learn and practice all the different techniques and situations that you learned in Smart Cycling Part 1 (Classroom) while working in small groups with our certified League Cycling Instructors (LCI) to improve your bicycle handling skills, ride defensively to avoid crashes, and learn crash-avoidance maneuvers in case of emergencies.
It will prepare you to bike confidently on any street. This class is open to adults 18 and over. Attendees must have a well maintained functional bicycle and helmet.
Prerequisites:
1. Be able to ride a bike with one hand and be able to look over your shoulder while riding.
2. Must have completed
A) our VTA online Smart Cycling 1 - Classroom session
OR
B) The League of American Bicyclists (LAB)'s online series of courses with proof of a passing score from the online exam. Note that the online exam from LAB is more difficult than the in-person exam.
All participants will receive a certificate of completion and a free patch kit with tire levers.
