Adirondack Women's Bar Association is a Chapter of the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York, focused on attorneys who live in, practice in, or just love the Adirondacks. The AWBA is a diverse group of private practitioners, judges, government attorneys, court officials, in-house counsel, and law students in Warren, Washington, Saratoga, Hamilton, and Essex Counties. We are a Chapter of WBASNY, the state bar association with a long and honored role in making life better for all women in society by advocating for equality and fair treatment of all women.

Adirondack has been very active in the last few years since COVID, particularly in planning several in-person events to promote networking and friendships among attorneys who live and/or practice Upstate. We have quarterly mixer events in Saratoga and Warren County, as well as a celebration each March for women’s history month. Last year at our Women’s History Month celebration we were joined by Joann Gerhardt, Director of Public Policy and Advocacy of the NYS Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NYSCADV), who spoke to us about the services of NYSCADV and about their advocacy for victims of Domestic Violence, including with the NYS Legislature to champion DV protections and rights for victims. Our other recent events have included our Installation Dinners with Keynote speakers such as the Hon. Mae D’Agostino and Hon. Diane Freestone, a CLE watch party in Albany to watch a WBASNY CLE celebrating Women in the Highest Courts, and a hike in Lake George to celebrate Mental Health Awareness month, which was attended by several local federal and state judges. We support the local communities through our monthly Domestic Violence clinic (during which we provide legal consults over the phone to survivors of Domestic Violence through Wellspring and Catholic Charities of Glens Falls). We also use our dues to sponsor and support events and non-profits in the local communities that align with our mission, including by sponsoring Wellspring of Saratoga County’s Girlfriends Helping Girlfriends event, donating to the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County Voter Registration Drive, and by donating to Lake George Land Conservancy in support of their trails in the Adirondacks. Finally, as part of WBASNY, Adirondack is able to affect policy and change by contributing to statewide on legislation, amicus briefs, and comments presented to the NY Courts system.
