Workplace Wellness Built From the Inside Out: Authentic Connections Foster Resilience

The definition of resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. Becoming resilient at work can be challenging depending on multiple factors including team dynamics, work/life commitments and capacity issues.

Join Dr. Suniya Luthar, a resilience researcher and licensed clinical psychologist, describe an evidence-based supportive intervention that has specifically been recommended by the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine to support parents, caregivers and adults who support many others.

The session will focus on strengthening personal resilience and provide a framework for a positive climate within the workplace.

Suniya S. Luthar, Ph.D. Bio

Suniya Luthar is the Founder & Executive Director of the nonprofit AC Groups, Professor Emerita at Columbia University’s Teachers College, and Co-Founder Emerita of Authentic Connections Co. After receiving her Ph.D. from Yale University in 1990, Dr.Luthar served on the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry and the Child Study Center at Yale. Between 1997 and 2013, she was at Columbia University’s Teachers College, where she also served as Senior Advisor to the Provost (2011-2013). Between 2014 and 2019, she was a Foundation Professor of Psychology at Arizona State University. Dr. Luthar's research involves vulnerability and resilience among various populations including children in families affected by mental illness, and youth as well as adults in high-achieving, pressured communities. Her current focus is on expanding the reach of science-based interventions to foster resilience among adults who are in salient caregiving roles, at home as well as in their work setting.
