"Why It Matters that I'm a Black Queer Worship Leader" with Darren Calhoun

Description

Does worship music help you feel connected to God? Are you someone who's into hymns, contemporary music, chants, singing, or instrumentation? Or maybe you're someone who's experienced harm in places where worship music is played, and it can bring up feelings of sadness or anger. No matter what kind of music you listen to or how you connect with it, our playlists can reveal a lot about who we are and where we've been. Join Darren Calhoun (he/him), Worship Leader and Vocalist with The Many for a musical reflection on his own faith journey, and a practical discussion about leading and interacting with worship in ways that are authentic and inclusive.

This is a 60 minute workshop with lecture and participation sections. The workshop is open to everyone, and will be recorded. We'll be sending a link to the video out to all ticketholders after the session, so you'll be able to view the event even if you can't participate on the day.

He is an Associate Fellow with Evangelicals for Social Action and sings with a band called The Many.
